Parashat Pekudey:  Exodus 35:1 to 40:38

For week of Friday, March 15, 2024

This Sabbath’s parashah will bring us to the conclusion of the book of Exodus. As we celebrate the gifts of Torah, we also remember that in another week we will celebrate Purim, the story of Esther and Mordecai. The Torah ‘sedrah’ describes the records kept of all the work and materials used in the construction of the ‘mishkan,’ the portable sanctuary that was carried throughout the wilderness. We also learn about the donations given to the priestly class, in order to maintain the mishkan, and all the concomitant sacrifices that were part of the biblical ritual. Once the mishkan is completed, Moses and the people celebrate by anointing the sanctuary. God’s presence fills the sanctuary, and that divine presence leads the people on their journey across the Sinai.

Join us for an exciting Torah study this Shabbat morning on zoom.
